Kathryn is a primary teacher by background and worked as a leader in schools before moving into educational improvement within local authority children’s services.

During the last eight years she has focused on early intervention, leading an integrated communication and language service, and developing whole-system pathways to support children’s early speech, language and communication needs as part of the Department for Education Early Outcomes Fund. Kathryn has supported early years developments across the Greater Manchester combined authorities, has recently lectured at Manchester Metropolitan University with a focus on early intervention, and undertaken the role of area lead for the Department for Education Covid Recovery Programme.
